With the increase in foreign visitors to Japan in recent years, the number of Short-Term Rentals (STRs) has grown rapidly in Osaka City. However, STRs is now facing an unprecedented crisis of under the pandemic of COVID-19. This study considered the advantages and challenges of STRs based on a survey of their rapidly changing location trends and a survey of residents' consciousness toward STRs. As a result, the number of STRs is increasing rapidly, especially in densely populated areas ofresidential district including Chuo, Naniwa and Nishinari Wards. On the other hand, several negative opinions have also heard for the hearing survey of residents of Chuo and Nishinari Wards. This study argues that COVID-19 can be an important turning point for the coexistence between STRs and existing residents.
