"New farmers ", those who were not born into farming families but are new to the farming industry, have attracted a lot of attention in recent years. They do not have farmland, funds, cultivation techniques, or connections to the community. Therefore, it is very difficult for them to start farming. We conducted an interview survey of new farmers in Town A, Iwate Prefecture, to clarify the process by how they started farming and to understand the reasons why they started farming. We also propose the current status and issues of support provided by the government when they start farming.
