企画・趣旨のねらい 小倉加惠子（Kaeko Ogura） 国立成育医療研究センターこころの診療部児童・思春期メンタルヘルス科 　障害児のケアの主体は家族が担うことがほとんどだが，長期にわたる親子の密着した生活により親子それぞれの活動範囲が制限され，親子ともに自立した社会生活を送られていない場合が少なくない．時に母子一体化と言われるような親子の過度な密着関係をつくり，夫婦関係やきょうだい関係などの家族関係においても機能不全を生じることが指摘されている．こうした問題に，今，私たちはどう対処していけば良いのだろうか？ 　本シンポジウムの前半では，障害児の成人期に生じる医療的問題と社会的問題について紹介する．まず，柴田先生より機能低下・二次障害など障害児が成人期に抱える健康課題の現状の紹介と，幼児期からの親や医療者の関わりに対して問題提起していただく．続いて，田中先生よりいわゆる「親亡き後」と言われる成人期をむかえた障害児親子の抱える社会的問題とその背景に関して紹介していただく．シンポジウム後半では，成人期の課題解決に向けて，まず幼少期の療育現場における支援の現状と課題について西野先生より紹介いただく．次に草野先生より地域全体が支援に関わるライフステージを通じた障害児親子のケアシステムについて紹介いただく．そして，小倉より小児療育の現場で実践できる社会的自立に向けた家族の精神的成長を支援するための新たな試みについて紹介する．最後に，医療・福祉・保健の各領域の視点から捉えた障害児親子を取り巻く現状を踏まえて，親子の関係性を育み，親子それぞれの社会的自立を促すために私たちがこれから取り組むべきことについて議論する．
