Epileptogenic astrocyte mediated ictogenesis and epileptogenesis

 Gliaはギリシャ語のglue（接着剤）という用語に由来し、中枢神経系の細胞の約半分を占めるにも関わらず、長らく神経細胞の脇役として扱われてきた。ヒトの脳におけるグリア細胞の構成としては、概ねアストロサイト20％、オリゴデンドロサイト前駆細胞3-10％、オリゴデンドロサイト25％、ミクログリア5-15％とされる。これらのグリア細胞は、中枢神経系の発生・発達段階において、神経細胞の誕生、分化、遊走、軸索の伸張、シナプスの形成と刈り込みを調整する。成熟期には可塑性、イオン恒常性、代謝調節などの機能を持ち、脳をダイナミックに変化させている。神経細胞に多様性があるのと同じように、アストロサイトおよびミクログリアなどのグリア細胞にも多様性があることが明らかになりつつある。グリア細胞の機能不全は、中枢神経系の様々な疾患の発症に関与しており、その理解の重要性は増大している。<br/> 本シンポジウムでは、睡眠、てんかん、アレキサンダー病、酸化ストレス障害などの生理および病態におけるアストロサイトの機能、神経細胞-アストロサイト連関、アストロサイト-ミクログリア連関、グリア細胞の機能的多様性について紹介する。
