How to manage brain injuries ! ~Inside the head of pediatric intensivists~

小児集中治療室（PICU）入室患者は急性神経傷害のリスクが高く、小児集中治療学、小児神経学、小児脳神経外科学などにまたがる学際的領域である小児神経集中治療学（pediatric neurocritical care）の概念が北米を中心に2010年ごろより提唱され、重篤な疾患や外傷による小児の神経損傷を予防し、神経学的転帰を改善するための取り組みが広がってきている。一方、我が国においては過去20年の間にPICUの整備は進んだが、小児神経集中治療学という用語はまだほとんど使われていない。本シンポジウムでは小児集中治療部門と小児神経部門の連携が進んでいる２つの小児専門病院における蘇生後脳症、外傷性脳損傷、急性脳炎脳症など脳保護が主眼におかれる症例を通じて、搬送体制、呼吸循環管理、体温管理、てんかん重積状態治療、脳浮腫治療などのポイントについて、小児神経科、小児集中治療科それぞれの視点から議論する。本学会における小児神経集中治療をテーマとした初めてのシンポジウムであり、我が国における同分野の発展の端緒となることを願う。
