Since the latency of the immersive device was causing VR sickness and a decrease in immersion, we conducted an investigation. We developed and tested a system with a minimum latency of 4.3 ms, which can provide arbitrary latency with a resolution of 1 ms. The results showed that there is a latency threshold between 24.3 ms and 44.3 ms that affects task performance. We hope that the results will be applied to the design of future immersive devices.
