略歴:
1984年に九州大学医学部を卒業後、榊 佳之先生の下で研究生活に入る。長崎大学熱帯医学研究所助手、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校研究員、東京大学医科学研究所助手を経て、1999年に金沢大学がん研究所教授として独立。2003年より東京大学大学院新領域創成科学研究科教授、2009年より東京大学大学院理学系研究科教授、2013年より九州大学大学院医学研究院教授。専門はゲノム科学、特に出芽酵母の機能ゲノミクス・合成ゲノミクスと哺乳類のエピゲノミクス。独自の技術や方法論によるユニークな貢献を志して来たが、日暮れて道遠しである。若い人には日本発の技術や方法論で世界を席巻して欲しい。
