Dental Hygienists Today and the Communication Skills to Promote the Behavior Change Required

歯科衛生士は厚生労働大臣の免許を必要とする国家資格です。パラ・デンタルとしての地位が確立しており、顎口腔機能診断施設の施設要件では歯科衛生士が就業していることを求めているなど、矯正歯科の分野では歯科衛生士と歯科医師は協働していく必要があります。1948年制定の「歯科衛生士法」には衛生士業務として「歯科予防処置」「歯科診療の補助」「歯科保健指導」があげられておりますが、矯正歯科医院では、ことに「歯科診療の補助」の範囲が、受付業務から始まりチェアーサイドでの矯正歯科診療補助、そしてMFT、患者への説明、対応まで多岐に渡ります。さらに、この職種を確立させた本来の業務である「歯科予防処置」「歯科保健指導」は矯正歯科治療中の患者の口腔環境の未来に大きく寄与しますが、これらは歯科衛生士に全面委任していることが多いのが現実です。専門性の高い矯正歯科の臨床現場において、この多岐にわたるご業務を遂行するためには、社会情勢の変化を鑑みると高いコミュニケーション力が求められます。そこで、コミュニケーション力について東京医科歯科大学教授吉田直美先生にご講演いただきます。参加した歯科衛生士の今後の患者対応のために拝聴いたしたく存じます。<br />（公益社団法人日本矯正歯科学会　常務理事、北海道大学大学院歯学研究院歯科矯正学教室　教授　佐藤　嘉晃）<br />（公益社団法人日本矯正歯科学会　監事、のむら矯正歯科　院長　野村　泰世）
