Selective conversion of glycerol, which is a large byproduct in the biodiesel production process, to value-added products is one of the key issues in the effective utilization of biomass. We have found that WO3/Al2O3 catalysts exhibit high acrolein yield and high stability for the gas-phase dehydration of glycerol. In this study, we discussed the specific acidic property of WO3/Al2O3 catalysts based on the catalytic performance in glycerol dehydration and NH3-TPD.
