We investigate a process for preparing cyclopentadiene through cyclodehydrogenation of n-pentane using supported Pt catalysts. This complex reaction proceeds through cyclic reaction of n-pentane and linear pentenes followed by dehydrogenation of cyclic compounds. This study aims to clarify the reaction pathway by dehydrogenating intermediates, cyclopentane and cyclopentene. Moreover, the effects of the support and second elements on the performance of the catalysts were also investigated.
