肥料や工業原料としての窒素利用や化石燃料消費に伴い、大量の反応性窒素（分子窒素以外の窒素化合物）が環境に排出されて多様な窒素汚染をもたらしている。講演ではこの窒素問題の概要と国内外の取り組みを紹介する。
