The effect of zeolite Beta on the decomposition of polyethylene in hydrocarbon solvents was compared with that of amorphous silica-alumina as a catalyst, and it was found that zeolite Beta has high catalytic properties for chemical recycling to petrochemical feedstock. The decomposition behavior of Beta with various compositions and morphologies was also investigated, and the mechanism of action of Beta was discussed.
