It is desired to effectively utilize plant biomass as a renewable carbon resource to synthesize chemical products. In order to achieve this, chemical synthesis techniques and processes different from those of existing petroleum refining and petrochemicals are required, and in particular, high-performance catalysts are essential. Based on our original material design and synthesis method, we have been working on the development of high-performance solid acid catalysts for the synthesis of useful chemicals from saccharides.
