In the chemical recycling world, halogens are avoided as a risk factor in the oil conversion process, but it is desirable to develop a new halogen circulation process in the resource recycling of plastics. Since understanding the composition of halogens, including chlorine, is important in the development of such a process, we have investigated a method for selective and sensitive detection of halogen compounds in polyvinyl chloride pyrolysis oil using gas chromatography/negative ion chemical ionization mass spectrometry (GC/NICI-MS).
