In order to convert waste plastic into feedstocks for petrochemicals, plastics were dissolved in a hydrocarbon solvent and decomposed by catalytic decomposition. A hydrocarbon solvent obtained in the petroleum refining process was used, and Beta zeolite was used as a catalyst. We investigated the differences in plastic conversion and products distribution when polypropylene, polystyrene, and their mixtures were decomposed.
