A simple and inexpensive spectroscope employing a recordable compact disk (CD-R) and a digital single-lens reflex camera was fabricated. The spectroscope gives high-resolution visible spectrum images of light sources. Moreover, the obtained spectrum images can be converted into accurate spectrum data.
