JSAP Spring / Autumn Meeting

The International Science Fair at Sasebo-Kosen, comprised of several scientific and engineering exhibits, has been held to improve the English abilities of Kosen students. School students at Sasebo navy elementary school, who are in the second to the fifth grade, are normally invited. The elementary school students at the naval base have few opportunities to see technical science experiments in their regular classes. The Japanese students also do not have many opportunities to explain technical processes using English in a regular English class. So, we have designed experience-based learning for both groups of students to compensate for the lack of such experience. Fourteen science-themed experiments have been prepared by Kosen students, who choose themes related to their majors. “International Science Park & Tour in Sasebo-Kosen” using Technical English for Students in Sasebo Naval Base will be reported.
