We introduce a simple sound velocity measurement method developed for an inquiring event for high school students. A microphone is placed at the entrance of the cylindrical document case, and measure the time until the document case is reflected back using an audio oscilloscope software. The return time dependence the depth of the cylinder agreed with the calculated value using the sound speed of the literature value.
