JSAP Spring / Autumn Meeting

Considering that there are few experimental cases and teaching materials in the field of radiation in science experiments for junior and senior high school students, we developed an image analysis using a webcam radiation detector. With this detector, cosmic rays, ⁹⁰Sr, ²⁴¹Am, etc. falling on the earth's surface were shielded with aluminum foil and photographed with long exposures, and an attempt was made to identify the type of radiation based on pixel information of pixel brightness and trajectory. This activity was conducted with high school students using DISCORD and remote control, making it possible for middle and high school students to measure the radiation sources.
