The purpose of this study is to develop the disaster prevention learning materials to be used in elementary schools. We have surveyed and analyzed positioning of disaster prevention in the course of study, materials created by prefectures and municipalities, and contents of textbooks used in elementary schools. As a result of these surveys and analysis, we have drawn a conclusion that it is effective to create the materials by classifying into three disasters they are wind and flood damage, earthquake/tsunami, others/fire, and by separating targets for three grades they are lower grades, middle grades, and upper grades. Then we have created disaster prevention learning materials for upper grades.
