ICUにおける特定看護師と医行為 ―看護管理者の立場から―

医師不足の解決策とのからみで、看護師に特定の医療行為を行ってもらおうという政策がある。しかし看護師に新しい業務を委ねるのは、看護師職の新しい可能性の開発のためにあるべきものであって、制度のほころびを取り繕うためではない。すでに多くの看護師養成機関は四年制大学となり、卒後をも含め、教育の充実度は目覚ましい進化をとげている。こうした成果を無駄にしてはならない。ICUは文字通り多職種の専門家が集中して重症の患者に奉仕する場である。それぞれの専門家で何ができ、何ができなくて、そして何ができるようになるか、はICUの質を高めてゆくための継続的な討議の対象である。今回、こうした主題でパネルディスカッションが企画されたのは、まことに時宜を得たものであり、参加者の活発な議論を期待する。
