Selective finger flows may occur when water intrudes unsaturated porous media. Because the occurrence of the finger flow could depend on the pore-scale patterns of water movement, it is important to implement pore-scale observation and simulation to study the finger formation. In this study, we successfully confirmed the finger flow during the water intrusion into porous media in the pore-scale simulation using the phase-field lattice Boltzmann method.
