[2-16]Influence of farming activities on buried condition of subsurface drainage pipes in peat

We discussed the relationships between the buried condition of subsurface drainage pipes and farming activities that may affect their condition in peat farmlands. The results showed that all subsurface pipes were undulated and a tendency for relative settlement on the drainage channel side. And downward deviation was observed more frequently near the lateral drain. In addition to the drying shrinkage and decomposition of the peat, the load of the agricultural machinery was influencing the occurrence of pipes undulation since the agricultural machinery runs near the culverts during pest control operations.
