　日本は既に超高齢社会に突入しており，健康寿命の延伸にはオーラルフレイルを予防し健全な口腔内環境を維持することで，高血圧症・心疾患・糖尿病など生活習慣病の予防・改善が可能となる．昨今では，デンタルインプラントが欠損補綴の選択肢に加えられ，多くの患者の機能性・審美性・社会性のリハビリテーションに寄与している．<br>　コマーシャル・ピュア・タイタニウム製のインプラントが人体に応用され50年以上が経過したが，チタンアレルギーやチタン以外の材質によるインプラントの開発等，医療用具の安全性確保が強く求められるようになりつつある．<br>　口腔内常在菌や歯周病原菌などが存在し咬合力が加わる環境においても，長期にわたりその機能を維持するためには，術前からの口腔衛生指導や歯周基本治療，そしてメインテナンス期における継続的な管理が必要となり，歯科衛生士はチームの一員として患者との信頼関係を構築し，歯科医師・歯科技工士・材料提供者等の歯科関係者のみならず，全身疾患やそれに伴う服薬への対応から，医師・看護師・介護士等との連携も求められている．<br>　一人一人の患者に寄り添うチームメンバーとなることを目指し，デンタルインプラントが薬機法においてクラスⅢの高度管理医療機器に分類される所以や理工学的特徴につき，長年研究を続けられた演者より解説していただく．
