Mobitecture, also known as Mobile Architecture, is a new movement, which is expanding in design, and architecture; while it is, contradictory, about reducing and simplifying the design of objects by considering the aspect of mobility. To contribute to the growth of this design genre, this research identifies and discusses Mobitecture in Japan during the Edo-period (1603-1868). As a result, the meaning that mobilityadded to Japanese design can be better understood. Moreover, we assume that further implementation of Mobitecture could contribute to the development of future cities by studying the relation between the flow of people the movement caused by Mobitecture in cities.
