The "Charcoal-burning Hut Regeneration Project" was developed in the Izumi district of Wakaba, Chiba. Literature review and field research confirmed that charcoal-making huts were important in the formation of local lifestyle and culture. Participants agreed that it was important not only to conserve forests but also to develop the project into a community-building activity through the restoration of huts, and voluntary organizations was established. In the future, we would like to study specific ways to utilize charcoal burning huts and create a system that allows people to participate in community building.
