Information overload and other circumstances have pointed to a virtual breakdown of interaction with cyberspace that is beyond the cognitive abilities of people. Therefore, in this study, we first conducted a survey of interactions between tools and people currently in use in order to question what the ideal interaction between tools and people is. First, we hypothesized that the ideal form of interaction would be "a situation in which the actor's image of the tool matches the way the tool is used," and conducted a survey focusing on the difference between the motivations people have when selecting a tool and the actual usage situation. In this paper, we report on our findings in the process.
