Revisiting glucose metabolism in cancer: lessons from a <em>Pkm</em> knock-in model

Cancer malignancy is regulated by intrinsic and extrinsic factors, which are affected by genetic abnormalities. One of key process is acquisition of stem cell property of cancer, so called "stemness". While numerous regulators in growth signal, senescence, and DNA damage/repair pathways are involved in cancer stemness, metabolic status at cellular and organ levels also play critical role in control of cancer malignancy. In this symposium, we focus on recent progress in understanding molecular mechanisms how stemness and metabolic status contributes to development and malignant progression of cancer.
