Zscan4 and maintenance of genome integrity in pluripotent stem cells, preimplantation embryos, and germ cells

Since the first report of iPS cells in 2006, the iPS cell research has developed toward medical and pharmaceutical applications. On the other hand, the basic research analyzing the molecular mechanism governing pluripotency has achieved steady progresses. To understand the mechanism of reprogramming triggered by 4 transcription factors, it is essential to reveal the molecular mechanisms determining pluripotency such as signal transduction, transcription factor network and epigenetic regulation. In this symposium, we aim to summarize the recent progresses in this field and to position them to understand the entire mechanism governing pluripotency.
