Assembly mechanisms of tardigrade-unique cytoskeleton CAHS

The phenomenon of dormancy in multicellular organisms is observed across a variety of species and tissues. For instance, developmental arrest, which halts the development process in the entire embryo or specific cells, has been reported in mammals, fish, and plants. Additionally, tissue stem cells in adult organisms are often maintained in a dormant state, which has been shown to be essential for lifelong functional preservation. Traditionally, these phenomena have been recognized as a result of environmental responses to conditions such as low nutrition or low oxygen. In contrast, this symposium will focus on an active form of dormancy based on intricate multicellular interactions, termed 'philostasis.' It will introduce cutting-edge research that challenges to elucidate the control programs governing this state.<br>
