4）Mutual relationship between circadian rhythm and sleep homeostasis

<strong>【企画・趣旨のねらい】</strong><br />　睡眠覚醒リズムと脳機能のつながりについては古くから認識されてきた．神経疾患の診療に携わる私たちも，睡眠習慣の改善が高次脳機能の改善につながること，そして，神経疾患のコントロールが睡眠障害の改善につながる事例を目の当たりにし，生体リズムと脳機能の調節機構の密接な相互作用を日々体感する立場にある．一方で生体リズムと脳機能の関係が，単なる睡眠負債による脳機能の低下を超えて議論が展開されるようになったのは比較的最近のことである．1990年代後半からは，生体リズムを調整する遺伝子レベルの制御機構の解明にブレークスルーがもたらされ，2017年のノーベル医学生理学賞をこの領域の先駆者たちが受賞することになったのは記憶に新しい．大規模疫学研究から見出された睡眠・疾病の操作因子は，分子レベルの生体周期調節機構とどのように結び付けられてゆくのであろうか？　Lewisが周生期の光環境によるエントレインメントと成人期の疾病の関連に注意を喚起すべく，Perinatal light imprinting of circadian clocks and systems（PLICCS）という概念を提唱したように，私たちは小児神経学の立場から，こどもの健全な成長発達につながる生体周期の研究分野を振興すべき時を迎えているのかもしれない．本シンポジウムでは，生体周期の基礎・臨床・疫学研究において世界的な注目を集めつつも，小児神経領域ではあまり紹介されてこなかった重要な研究を手掛ける世界的な研究者・新進気鋭の研究者にお集まりいただき，脳機能の基盤である生体振動・周期に関する研究のカッティングエッジを垣間見ていただくと共に，これから私たち臨床家が取り組むべき観察テーマ・臨床研究のシーズがどこにあるのかを，セッションを通じて浮き彫りにしたい．
