[1B2-03]Influence of the respiratory route on discriminating the odors
○Naohisa Nagaya1, Akari Iwasaki1, Hiroya Yamada1(1. Kyoto Sangyo University)
In order to clarify the functional role of two nasal cavities separately in human olfaction, we developed a device capable of presenting different odors to both nasal cavities and conducted experiments to see how odor is perceived. In the experiments, we conducted experiments under two conditions: expiration pass through the nose and pass through the mouth. As a result, the ratio of answering that it perceives odor to the nasal cavity opposite to the one on which odor was presented was significantly higher when a breath passed through the nose.
