多種多様な視覚障害の症状を画像処理によるソフトウェア的なアプローチによって再現することにより、一つの機器で様々な視覚障害の症状を模擬体験できるシステムを開発した。システム開発の第一歩として色覚異常の症状を再現することを本研究の目的とした。
