We propose and theoretically demonstrate multiple 1D-photonic crystal cavity designs based on an InP nanowire. All cavities are designed to emit in the telecom band (~1550 nm) for integration with optical communications systems. Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) and Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations are employed to compare the Q-factor (Q) and mode volume (Veff) of the different configurations.
