[III-TSPCJS-01]Neurodevelopment outcome of children with congenital heart disease

Shuenn-Nan Chiu(Pediatrics, National Taiwan University Hospital)
Children with CHD are at high risk for developmental delay and impairment. The impact of CHD on neurodevelopment is multifactorial including genetic, fetal, pre-operative, perioperative and post-operative factors. Some risk factors cannot be altered, but many risk factors are modifiable. Children with CHD may experience a delay across the spectrum of developmental domains.
AHA recommend routine surveillance, screening and evaluation for high risks population with the goal of early identification and intervention for neuro-developmental delays. Cardiac neurodevelopmental follow-up program through a multidisciplinary approach is the key to improving the outcome in children with CHD in the 21st century.
