[PL-02-1]Asian and Oceanian Association of Neurology (AOAN), the past, the present and the future

Professor Dr Hj Hamidon Hj Basri is a senior consultant neurologist and the Director of Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS) UPM. The highlight of his career was the successful development of a benchmark niche area in stroke care for HSAAS UPM His brainchild is the Regional Emergency Stroke Quick-response (RESQ) network and HSAAS UPM is the pioneer principal high-volume stroke RESQ training centre in Malaysia.
In the international arena, he is the current President of the Asian and Oceanian Association of Neurology-AOAN since 2020. He is also the regional director of the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) for the Asia-Oceania region.
He has been invited to deliver more than 500 lectures both locally and abroad. He has authored 5 books, 3 patent inventions and has published more than 150 publications in local and international journals (Scopus H-index=30, Citation=2288). He is active in international relief work with Global Peace Malaysia and Malaysian Relief Agency in countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Indonesia. He is also a certified silat exponent and can speak 4 languages.
