The microwave heating method is used in the reprocessing process of spent fuel, and a microwave hybrid heating method that combines microwave heating and an external heating source has been developed to improve the powder quality. However, there is a concern about the deterioration of the equipment used for the external heating source due to microwave irradiation. Carbon nanotube (CNT)-containing ceramic composites are promising as an external heating source for the microwave hybrid heating method. In this report, the applicability of CNT-containing alumina composites to the microwave hybrid heating method is investigated based on the results of microwave absorption measurements and electromagnetic field analysis.
