In the decommissioning of nuclear facilities, various laser processing techniques such as laser cutting and laser decontamination will be utilized. We are developing spectroscopic measurement techniques using absorption and/or emission spectroscopy which enabling online measurement for monitering of working environment during laser processing and for evaluating decontamination efficiency of materials. In this talk, we will focus on the characteristics of the laser plasma generated during laser processing, and discuss the applicability of the spectroscopic measurement to the laser processing.
