Liquid lithium lead (LiPb) blanket plays important roles of tritium breeding, energy conversion and neutron shielding in fusion reactor. Liquid LiPb flows to blanket through manifold. However, magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) pressure drop is one of the important issues to be addressed. Our previous study indicated that α-Al2O3 layer on FeCrAl alloy formed by peroxidation treatment can reduce MHD pressure drop sufficiently. In present study, the reduction of MHD pressure drop in liquid metal blanket manifold system by α-Al2O3 layer formed on inner surface of APMT tube was investigated. The results of numerical simulation indicates that thickness of 1.4 μm α-Al2O3 layer on inner surface of APMT tube sufficiently reduces MHD pressure drop.
