This study focuses on the "frictions" and "absence of care" that arise in local communities during the processes of siting, operating, and decommissioning large-scale energy facilities—contexts that may seem distant from the practice of care. Nuclear facilities serve as the most prominent example in this regard.
As we aim to reconstruct dialogue practices, it is essential to critically reflect on the past engagement of the nuclear professionals with local communities, reexamining their attitudes, stances, and behaviors from the perspective of the "ethics of care."
Through participant observation and interviews with nuclear professionals, this study seeks to clarify the causes and social backgrounds that have shaped and maintained traditional forms of engagement and attitudes.
