We evaluated the performance of quantum PET that suppresses scattered events by exploiting the polarization correlation of annihilation photon pairs. Through simulations and phantom experiments, we demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in the signal-to-background ratio (SBR) compared with conventional PET. Furthermore, we proposed and evaluated an MLEM reconstruction method incorporating quantum PET images and applied it to in vivo mouse imaging.
