本研究では、4本鎖核酸中にT塩基を豊富に有するトロンビン結合アプタマー[TBA: 5’-(GGTTGGTGTGGTTGG)-3’]にHg²⁺を添加すると、反平行型4本鎖核酸の一部に左巻き核酸構造を部分的に形成するという、過去に類例のない大きな構造変化を見出した。
