SARS-CoV-2ウイルスのRNAゲノム内や、HIV-1のプロウイルスのDNAゲノムのプロモーター領域には不安定ながら4本鎖核酸を形成し得る配列が存在する。本研究は、これらの感染症に関連する遺伝子が4本鎖核酸を形成し得ることに基づいて、これらの遺伝子発現を人工的に抑制する方法を開発した。
