[Poster 1-20] [Withdrawn]Design of the Yucatan Shelf Observation and Prediction System

The Yucatan Shelf is one of the largest shelfs in the world, it is a microtidal system. The Yucatan Current a western boundary current, interacts with the shelf generating upwelling, which sustain a large fisheries, including the third largest octopus fisheries. In this region all the freshwater is from underground sources. This freshwater debauches at sea rich in nutrients from anthropogenic sources can lead to Harmful Algal Blooms. This shelf sea is located in the southern Gulf of Mexico, where Marine Heat Waves are becoming more common. So we have the need of designing a observing and forecasting system that will allow us to prepare early warnings to end users, mainly from the fishing communities and tourism industry.
