2015年の国連サミットで採択された持続可能な開発目標（SDGs）やサイバー空間とフィジカル空間を高度に融合させたシステムにより、経済発展と社会的課題の解決を両立する人間中心社会であるSociety5。0 の実現に向けて世界的な取り組みが進められている。これらの目標が実現するスマートシティにおいては、IoT や5G などの新しい無線通信技術や高効率エネルギーシステムを搭載した自動運転車やドローン等が基盤システムとして円滑に利用される環境を実現する必要があり、EMCはそのための重要な技術課題となる。本企画セッションでは、これからの持続可能で強靭な社会に必要とされるEMC課題に関する研究テーマを題材とし、多様なシステムのEMC（エミッションやイミュニティ）に関する技術課題や電磁界の人体防護に関する研究課題等を含め、幅広い領域からのEMC に関する知見と技術を共有することを目的とする。同名の和文B特集号（2023 年8 月号）より依頼した講演者にご登壇いただく。
