Advancements in technology are transforming the very notions of ""safety"" and ""trust"" in our society. This session explores how we can reconceptualize safety (including both security and physical safety) and trust (encompassing peace of mind and social acceptance) from the perspective of ELSI - Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications. We aim to discuss responsible approaches to technology development that go beyond ensuring physical and informational safety, and that foster psychologically secure environments where users can confidently engage with emerging technologies. Drawing on case studies from AI, robotics, healthcare, and cybersecurity, this session will offer practical perspectives on implementing ELSI in real-world contexts and examine pathways toward the co-evolution of technology and society.
