This study evaluates acid-modified electrodes in microalgal fuel cells using Chlorella vulgaris under different operational conditions. Three systems and photoperiods (24:0, 16:8, 12:12) were tested. Results show that acid treatment enhanced electron transfer, while the replenished system under 16:8 achieved the best performance. System performance was mainly limited by mass transfer, resistance, and CO2 diffusion. Overall, combining modified electrodes with replenishment improves MFC performance and stability.
