[Purpose]
Mushroom-derived fibers have attracted attention as sustainable alternatives to conventional textile materials due to their biodegradability and unique microstructural properties. In this study, we developed a process to produce decolorized mushroom pulp and its subsequent application to nonwoven composite fibers.

[Method]
A controlled decolorization process was applied to mushroom biomass to remove pigments and impurities while preserving the fibrous structure. The resulting pulp was mechanically processed and blended with cotton to fabricate nonwoven composite materials. Process parameters, including pulp treatment conditions and blending ratios, were optimized to enhance fiber dispersion and interfacial bonding.

[Results]
The fabricated composites exhibited favorable mechanical properties, including tensile strength and flexibility, while maintaining breathability and lightweight characteristics. Morphological analysis confirmed the homogeneous integration of mushroom fibers within the cotton matrix, thereby improving structural stability.

[Consideration]
Additionally, the eco-friendly nature of the process and materials supports their potential use in sustainable textile applications, particularly in disposable or short-life-cycle products such as masks and hygiene materials.

[Conclusion]
This study demonstrates that decolorized mushroom fibers can serve as functional bio-based components in nonwoven composites, providing a viable pathway toward environmentally responsible fiber engineering and textile innovation.
