[Th-A1-F-03 (Invited)] Spin qubits in silicon quantum wells: managing the competition between spins and valleys

Spin qubits in Si/SiGe quantum wells may experience low valley splittings due to SiGe alloy disorder. I discuss the origins of the problem and offer suggestions for novel heterostructure and gate geometries that could enhance the valley splitting.
