Photon-number-resolving (PNR) detectors are essential for quantum photonics but typically require ultralow temperatures. We propose a TMDC-based PNR detector operating at ~4 K using a gate-defined quantum point contact. Photon absorption induces discrete charge events, producing quantized conductance steps for photon counting.
